As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT), and a Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor my approach is an integrated one. As a CBT therapist treatment takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. It is used to help a wide range of issues in a person’s life, from sleeping difficulties or relationship problems, to anxiety and depression. CBT works by changing people’s attitudes and their behavior by focusing on the thoughts, images, beliefs and attitudes that are held and how these processes relate to the way a person behaves, as a way of dealing with emotional problems.
Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we are doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Anytime we are directly experiencing via our senses or aware of our state of mind or heart – we are being Mindful. There is growing research showing that when you train your brain to be more Mindful it rewires the brain; and we are happier, sleep better, chronic pain diminishes, it reduces anxiety and depression, ADHD, and boosts our immune system. I look forward to meeting with you and seeing were the journey leads us.
